PTO question
Hopefully this doesn't belong in the drivetrain section.
How does the u-joint come off of the PTO on the side of the NP435? It is broken and and needs replacement. I don't see a pinch screw on the side. I assume there are splines, but I'm just not sure how to remove it from the PTO yoke.

re: PTO question
Thanks guys. I'll look again for a set screw. I didn't see one the first time I looked.
The set up I had was a two piece. I was thinking I could use a one piece drive shaft. That way I could just use the middle u-joint on the PTO yoke and the other on the pump. Therefore elliminating the need for a new u-joint. The only thing is trying to slip the shaft into the u-joints. I think that's why the two piece set up is used. Maybe I could just take the PTO off slip the shaft into the u-joint and reattach it.
Any comments are welcomed.

A single PTO shaft should work fine, but you should have a slip joint in the shaft so things don't bind up when the engine/tranny move a bit in thier mounts. I've bought PTO driveshaft yokes and pieces over the counter at Napa.

Thanks for the info. At least I know here I can get the u-joint if I need it. I think I'll prooly just get a new u-joint. I really should do it the right way. It can't be that much $.averagef250 wrote: I've bought PTO driveshaft yokes and pieces over the counter at Napa.

re: PTO question
I use 1310s on my PTO. Even had to borrow one a time or two to use in middle shaft.LOL. Should have slip yoke, Watch routing of shift cable, couple of times mine locked in all by its itself, talk about MAJOR bind.
