also on your two barrell what is the choke set to? it should be either one or two lean and with the choke closed off the fast/cold idle cam should just be making contact on the second step of the cam and only cuase it to run about 1000-1200 when cold.

i know when the choke closes up some on the t-bird the t-bird pulls a little against the brakes at stop lights/signs becuase the choke/fast idle have it pulling around 1100 rpms.once it drops back to normal it just barely idles itself forward at around 550-600 rpm. its a 302 btw.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

Following up as I mentioned I'd do. I was finally able to wire up the vaccum gauge and leave the hood open so I could view it from in the truck and vaccuum swings wildly between 10-20 inches in park and drops to 5-7" before it stalls in reverse or drive. Not finding any external vaccuum leaks with hand over carb, or sprays around intake/carb, I finally recalled seeing the car stall several times at junkyard before they pulled motor I bought. I had chalked it up to poor tune, and now I'm thinking it was valves. Everything else has been changed on the motor and timing chain was tight, so I'm now leaning toward sticking valve or two. Something is causing the erratic bounces in vaccuum and the resulting misses.
I debated putting new head gaskets on this used motor before I installed and now wish I had. Since I went ahead and pulled top end (going to install new intake), I'm going to go ahead and pull heads and take to machine shop to check valves while it's down. Will report back after machine shop head work in case anyone runs a search in future this may help them. Thanks again, Banjo.
