Transmission will not engage.........

Post by Yakima »

I hadn't started my truck in about a month. Last time it ran the tranny worked fine. I just went out to start it. The battery was dead so I had to charge it. I then attempted to put it in gear and nothing happened. I mean nothing. It felt like I had no transmission. No reverse, no forward, no nothing. The truck had not been moved since it was parked. I did tie my dog to the bumper a couple of days and he slept under the truck. Anyone got any idea what might have happened. The tranny is manual, four speed with the granny. The truck is a 76 150, 4X4. Thanks.

Sounds like that dog was up to no good! I would give him a good
talking to. I remember when my dog hid my keys. They laugh you know.
After 2 hours of looking, he brought them back. Dirty trick!!

What ya saying, it won't move in gear or it won't go in gear? Shifter
broken? NP435?

How often did you feed the dog?

Maybe he chewed thru your drive shaft? Will it go into 4 wheel drive and move via the front axle?

i think he could have put the transfer case in neutral which would cause the problem you describe.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.
