Tire Question

Post by GMan »

My 68 F100 originally came with 8.15 x 15 4 BSW PT tires. I got everything except I can't figure out what the PT stands for. I'm sure it's something very simple and I will feel like an idiot when I hear the answer, but what the heck..any help? Thanks.

I've never seen a 8.15" tire, but then again, I ain't seen a lot of things. Could it be 8.5 maybe?

My guess is PT means:
Passenger/Truck

I know the BSW means Black Side Wall

what ply rating are they?

The build sheet I just got back from Ford said it came with 4 8.15 x 15 BSW PT tires. I figured everything else. Passenger/Truck makes sense. Thanks. I will scan the build sheet and post it in case anyone was curious about what Ford sends.

I have seen some tire sites list this size.

It looks like it is all by itself for sizing, no real P-metric equivalent.

its passenger tubeless tire, not passenger/truck tire.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

I once saw 8.15 X 15's on a former bosses 51' Hudson Hornet 2-dr.
yes.. it had the flat six 308.
yes.. it was a "Twin-Super-H"
Yes.. it went like a bat-out-of-hell, and rode better than a Lincoln.
Sweet car.

Those specs are listed in almost all of the factory brochures.
