clutch slave cylinder 1971 F100
Clutch pedal is on the floor. Was trying to id where leak was coming from -- at first I thought it was oil. It appears clutch slave cylinder has let go.
Couple of questions.
Where to get slave cyl. replacement and/or rebuild kit. Parts online generally don't seem to isolate this part for replacement.
Should the clutch master cyl. be replaced too?
Dirty but easy job? I picked up ford shop manuals for my truck. Little to no detail in there about this r and r.
This is for 1971 F100 360 with three on tree.

never saw one with a slave cylinder on 67-72.
last year was 60 until they brought it back in the early 80s again.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

I couldn't resist. I apologize. There aren't any dumb questions here. The linkage is mechanical and with a little fiddling around underneath it should be apparent what went wrong. Hopefully it's something simple in the linkage like the return spring braking and the adjuster dropping out.

this is what your clutch system should look like. No slave cylinder here. As mentioned, It might be the master cylinder leaking.

the piece of the linkage rod that attaches to the pedal itself can get a groove in it and break off at that point, same with the other end.i pushed down on the pedal one time, stayed on the floor and thought i had broken the pressure plate or something. i worked in a machine shop at the time so we just made a new one but i have welded other ones that had the groove, which is because the nylon bushing wears out.

re: clutch slave cylinder 1971 F100
thanks guys. I was looking in my 1971 service manual and was confused by what I saw that fits on bigger Ford trucks.
It appears that what broke off was a pivot bracket that bolts to the bell housing. What blows is that the bracket prob fell off when I had it towed home. So it is lost.
Just came home from my local salvage yard. They had a '71 with a 6-cyl stick but this engine/trans, as near as I can see, has the bracket as a cast part of the bell housing. I suspect that on larger engines like my 360 it is a separate bracket that bolts on. On the diagram posted above the part that is missing would be to the right of the drawing where the z-bar end inserts to a bracket on the bell housing. Any thoughts about where I might find this part? Looks like needle-in-a-haystack territory. Anybody ever fabricate one of these? Any thoughts would be welcome -- and thanks again for your kind replies. If it means anything, I am in Plymouth, Michigan.

Just an update.
Been drivin my Cholula ('71 F-100) to work for the last little while thanks to Iceman sending me the lost pivot bracket. Man I luv drivin my truck. I put dual flowmasters onit and makes me smile when i set off the car alarms in the parking garage at work with that exhaust vibe.
You guys are great!
