On an auto trans, there is the sheetmetal plate that goes between the trans bellhousing and the back of the engine. Then there is the little plate that can be removed to get to the torque convereter bolts. This plate has some raised portions.
Do the raised areas on this plate go towards the engine or the trans/torque converter?

re: cover/inspection plate question
The raised portions face out, towards the rear.

re: cover/inspection plate question
If the raised portion (sort of a bead roll look to it) goes out, it points toward the front of the truck on mine. Talking about the smaller sheetmetal cover, not the large one.
I mounted it with the ribbed/raised protion out, the ends tucked up under the larger cover.
