what gears are you looking to have? the 9inch and dana 60 both had numerous stock choices.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

If its a 9" just change the pumkin and be done with it. Just make sure the axels have the same amount of splines as yours . :2cents:

It's a Dana 60 with 4:10 now, and I want it to run with some longer legs, she's whining real loud at 60mph. I would like to get 3:54/55's witchever it is, I've seen both listed but I don't know if it's actually the same ratio or not :? I appreciate the info, I need all the help I can get.

I have a dana 60 with 3:73 gears in it, and its got one of those factory locker/limited slip things in it.
Out of a 71 F-250 crew cab, used in my truck for 2 years before I swapped to a dana 70.

Make me an offer if it will work for ya and I can deliver it to Vancouver or possibly closer.

a 4.88 rear at 100 mph is loud.
my 4.56 i can drive 65mph in 4 high with no noise.
i prefer 4.10 or 4.56
my wife has 3.50s in hers, it is very fast but lacks the traction of the
others going thru the snow and climbing hills on a slippery road.
i think a 3.73 is a good median between them, especially with a locker.
it really will depend upon how you drive and use your truck, and the terrain where you live.

How many miles does it take you to stop when you're going 85?

Stops on a dime well almost until the left rear wheel cylinder blows out. :)

12*3 brakes if moved to a F100 would rip the axles off if you had a F350s loaded weight on the light weight F100 chassis.

I just got back from a highway run on the F250 (still coming together) and I was prompted to look under the tail and darn my Dana 60 is a 4.10. So the F250 gets it's gears first.

On another note since this was about a conversion. We built a Pinto wagon for an Officer in the Navy 302, 410 hp 4 spd and get this the rear end from a 72 Torino, 9 inch. The spring pads were 1/2 wider than the Pintos. We shimmed the mounts out a 1/4in on each side.

My first test launch after the break in and final tune lifted the front wheels in first and second.

:)He went home happy.
