well the nv4500 is good,

but i was able to get my hands on a tremec TKO 3550 five speed with a pro 5.0 shifter, and GM 26 spline input shaft, and thats what i have behind my 466 big block ford with iron bell housing.

they cater to mustang stuff but Mike the owner really knows his stuff. they even made a hydraulic clutch set up for 429/460.

The NV4500 and tremec are apples and oranges. The NV4500 is not a car transmission and does not shift like it. However, the NV4500 will do day in day out for 500,000 miles what the tremec would not last a day doing.

Buy a tremec to drag race, buy an NV4500 or a GV to tow heavy stuff with.

I have a buddy with a g.v. behind a 7.3 with a Banks turbo system in a 10k = lb rv and it works great. You got a hell of a deal. Good luck.

Can you put a TKO 3550 behind a FE? I don't do a lot of hauling, I'm working on a daily driver. It was my understanding that the TKO 500 and 600 would adapt but not the 3550.
