Rear Axle flange and bearing diameter.

Post by Big D's 69 »

SO what is the bearing size and flange on the 9 inches in our trucks?THere is 3 different listings a small bearing, large bearing, and a torino style. I know I can measure mine, but don't want to pull the axle on it.

Someone has got to know this or have one tore apart that they can pull the measurement on the bearing diameter and the flange mounting bolts holes side to side and top to bottom.

That is a good question.

I had asked that about a year or two ago and still don't have an answer for it.

Suppose you could measure yours and compare it to a 73-up and see what they are.

Just an idea

I think it depends on the year of your truck. This probably doesn't help much but I had the same question before. I used the big bearings because I had a 1972 rear end.

I have all the measurements for all 3:

Ford 8 and 9 inch the bearing measures 2.835 and the side to side flange bolts holes measure 3.3125 and 2.0 top to bottom.

Ford 9 Large Bearing the bearing measures 3.150 and the side to side flange bolt holes measure 3.50 and 2.375 top to bottom.

Ford 9 Torino the bearings measures 3.150 and side to side flange bolts holes measures 3.5625 and 2.0 top to bottom.

This is to know for a disc brake setup. I haven't tore mine apart yet so I'm not sure which one I need. I bought my brake kit for a large bearing rear so I hope it is right. If not I will find and cut a rear end housing. If someone has a housing they know that come out of a F-100 it want take 2 secs to pull the measurements. Mine is a 69, so if someone has one please let me know.
