Do some asking on switching side gears. That might be your best bet if you can get ahold of a 30 spline carrier. Ebay the 30 spline side gears.

let us know what you find.

[quote="heep70"]16 spline power-loc

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dana-spi ... dZViewItem

This link is a trak-lok, so back to the power/trak controversy. Would I be making a mistake using a trak-loc? Should I try to hold out and find a power-loc? I'm not rock-crawling the beast, just don't want to get stuck in the desert....

thanks again, you've been very helpful. And patient.

you, no doubt, have more experience than I. that typed, I'd be happy to have a powerlok if I could find one. While this truck is still on the lift with the rear end apart. I'll add that while we all agree the powerlok is superior, you are the only person in my research that has dissed the traklok for my light duty use. Heck, I can get a Detroit Locker tomorrow if I was worried about breaking the truck. And trust me, looking on craigslist and the rest of the internet are well within my expertise. Thanks for the input, and if you have a rebuildable 16 spline powerlok, I'd be happy to buy it!

It's not just that it's weak, it just doesn't seam to work very well. The trucks I've driven with trac-loks I was unable to tell the truck even had a posi. A brand new trac-lok with upgraded clutches works well for a little bit, but they wear out quickly.

The only guys I've met that didn't like thier powerlok didn't like thier tires chirping around corners now and then. I haven't met many that liked thier trac-lok whatsoever. If you were local, I'd introduce to a friend of mine that owns a gear shop. If he had a trac-lok kicking around I'm sure he'd give it to you for his labor to install it. He sells powerloks for $100-$300 depending on spline count.

I don't have any axle parts for sale right now.

Ok, so, let's ask him! I have a few people working on this for me, and so far nobody has been able to do it.

Here's the tag number: 603195-14

If he can supply a powerlock for a reasonable sum, I may just buy it!

Lincoln Locker!

Just pull the carrier out to weld it. Get all the slag off too. Works good.

Well, I found a Powerlock and it's on the way. Paid dearly for it. Now I hope someone outbids me on the ebay one....

I'll let you know how it works next week.

Replace the clutch packs is a very wise idea. Get the smooth clutches. The aggresive clutch are a bit much for a daily driver.
