re: OVERDRIVE
I have researched the Aod and the conversion equipment and found it to come out almost the same as a gear vendor. I would only get the GV if the installation isn't to complicated becau se the guys here in my town charge an arm and a leg to install.

I was just curious because I found one at the local pick a part and got it and the electronics to go with it for $65.00 a few weeks ago(Nice Score!)
But now I have to find a C6 with a 13 1/2" tailshaft(no luck yet!).Anyhow thanks for the input

As an FMX owner I called the company and they do not currently have one that will work on the FMX.

Right now I have a cruise-o-matic,but the gear vendor is for a long tailshaft C6.

re: OVERDRIVE
I've read that there were some lincolns, and thunderbirds that have a long tailshaft. My other baby ( '69 Lincoln Mark 3 w a nasty 460) has the more common short shaft. But a while back I tried to swap the trans from a '71 bird and I found that the tailshaft was a lot longer. I would find a trans to use the the GV behind. I've heard you can set them to where they'll function a close ratio six speed.

I'm just partial to anything but the GV overdrive. I used to know the guy that invented it and tried, but failed to market it and sold the patents to the company that is now gear vendors for next to nothing. All that sucker is is a copy of a volvo car overdrive unit. They do work very well and are very tough, but the company screwed the inventor over pretty good.

I've been thinmking of swapping in the AOD out of the 82 bird. Not sure ifd it would workout though.

re: OVERDRIVE
If I had access to a Gearvendor unit I would install it tonight. . I have always wanted one for the gear-splitting use of them but know I will ever be able to afford one.
I would check with Gearvendors and see if they have an adaptor to fit it to your tranny. I think they use the same OD unit on all trucks but use a different adaptor
