C6 Trans Slipping
When I take off from a stop and especially from a stop to a turning start the tranny will start out smooth and then sometimes soon after it will slip to the point where no power is going through to the rear. Sometimes it will shudder a moderate amount when taking off. When it does slip out I have to let off the gas pedal all the way and the the revs drop back to idle and then easily get back into it. I know that my tranny fluid level is correct and it seems to only do it when Its cold before the fluid has had the chance to warm up, but still does it some after its hot. At first I had thought that it might just have had been because the truck had sat for three years. But within about the last week/ week and a half it has gotten worse. I believe that the problem is either that the band needs adjustment, or the converter is going out. Its not that old, but is a rebuilt converter. Any thoughts, Thanks.

this was in some discussion a while back. when these trannies get older they start to slip or not engage because the seal are old and are letting fluid go by in stead of engaging the servos. how ever it sounds as if your seals are starting to give out completely. there are fluid type treatments out there that cant be tried to get you by for a while but it sounds like ti might be looking for a overhaul soon.

Well the only thing is that there really arent that many miles on the tranny. I did a minor overhaul to it when I put it in. I replaced the the seals including Input and Output, All the clutch packs, band, and filter. The converter was reused from the old original tranny that was in and only had a few thousand miles on it at the time I put it in with the rebuilt tranny. Although, I keep getting this feeling that when I installed the seal into the pump housing I bent the casing of the seal warping it outta shape. I really cant remember though cause it has been about 6 years since I did it. However there is a good amount of tranny fluid spread across the bottom of the trans case starting at the front from where the insp. cover goes. That leads me to believe that front pump seal is bad.
