Data plate questions
I finally got around to decoding my vin plate: (The one pictured is from Keith's red parts truck)
F10YKF9xxxx
F10 F-100
Y 360
K Kansas City
F9x Sept? Oct? Nov? (This is the first place I start to get lost)
131 YM F100 M 81 G A1
131 Loooooong Truck
YM Reef Aqua/Wimbleton White
F100 5000GVW
M Black interior, I have a cloth bench?? Ranger package.
81 Conventional Cab
G Automatic (C6 or C4??)
A1 3.25 Ford locking diff (explains the wheel scratch when I turn)
05000 175 4000 65
05000 5000 GVW
175 175HP
4000 @4000 RPM
65 Oklahoma City
Is that the correct HP rating for a 360 2bbl??
Did demand exceed expectations for the 69's? I can't imagine they would keep making them once the 70's were being produced.
And how can I tell what my trans is?

re: Data plate questions
The list of consecutive unit numbers posted on that page was made at the beginning of the production year, prior to the actual production. It was more of an projected estimate, so they're not going to be 100% correct. I've heard from several other '69 owners who have numbers in the 90's too, so you're not alone. It simply means that the production at that plant did exceed the pre-production estimates.

re: Data plate questions
They do...he said his rearend code on the VIN tag was 'A1', which is a locker with 3.25 gears. If the factory rearend is still in his truck and it's still got the factory tag, it'll have '3L25' stamped on it.

I used the cry cause it's a 3.25...I was hoping for a 3.70. Then I smiled for the locker. Probably not that big a deal 3.25 vs 3.70.fordman wrote:well i guess what i was saying is if he has a locker then why use the cry icon. that would be great to have a locker instead of a regular rearend. hey i'll trade you. arkansas isn't too far away i guess.

re: Data plate questions
Being new to all of this, what is the difference between a locker rear end and a regular rear end? Thanks.

When you mash on the gas pedal, you'll get two black lines on the pavement instead of just one!
