I also am looking for 3.45 from my 4.10 since the parts to restore the NP435 from Ford's version of a 4 speed to the original NP 435 5 speed design is available here on at a Semi/Heavy truck shop.

That is a good deal to. Does it have Posi?

Sharkdance - Questions for you

I have two '69 F250 CS both 390's one is a Ranger with a 3.54 and the other is a Custom Cab with a 3.78 rear-end. I'm parting them into one truck and was going to go with the 3.54 rear-end. My question is concerning Limited Slip Differentials - Do you run one in your truck?

I have been driving the CC 3.78 for the past few years and it is like a pig on ice when the road is wet or if I get both rears on grass that has any slope to it (i'm ususally empty when this happens).

Would a LS help this or I'm I just experiencing the power to weight ratio and it's just that simple? I don't do a lot of towing or heavy lifting with the truck, but it would be nice to get out of my own way when I'm working off road or on wet road.

I'd be interested in your opinion on the value of making the change to LS for the Open that I'm running now.

Well my Dana 70 is definately a locker and when the road is wet and I take off a hair too hard the duallies all leave dry marks in the rain. I wish I had taller gears but I would never give up my locker.

Good to hear you found a good donor axle. For future reference, the speedy sleeve is a great option if it's just a small groove, but an option that many don't realize when it comes to damaged rear spindles on full floater axles is cutting off the old spindle and replacing it. There are many professional shops that do this service and if you're a good welder/fabricator you can easily do this yourself. People tend be squeemish about cutting and welding axles together, but anything that can be built can be unbuilt the way I see it. They're welded together in the first place. Just cut through the axle tube and cut the replacement spindle off the donor housing in the same spot, turn a thin sleeve to align inside the tubes and act as a backer for a full-pen weld. Use 6011 if you're not that skilled of a welder or 7018 if you're more confident.

I've done 2 14 bolts and a dana 70 under the truck.

Sometimes you can also JB weld a speedy sleeve in place on a very damaged surface.
