Loose indicator

Post by newdeal »

What, if anything can I do to tighten the collum shifter on my '67? It is an fmx and it just feels sloppy and not too positive when shifting.

how does the pin in the shifter collar look. is it worn out. you may need a new colar. or it could be the plastic snap in gromets on the bottom of the column or at the side of the trans.

When I bought my truck in May (fmx) the indicator was off by a good bit.
I adjusted the little trunion block on the shift lever in the engine compartment which took some of the slack out of the lever.

Where my lever hooked into the tranny shift arm under the cab I was also missing some spacers or bushings and just had a big washer flopping around. I took a pc of rubber vac line, trapped it between the tranny lever and the 90 degree bend in the shift lever and that helped some too.

I'm afraid most of it is pin related as already mentioned.
