Bed question

Post by Joshpow »

How heavy do you guys think a short bed from one of these trucks would weigh? It is a wide bed from a 71. I need an idea of how much help to line up to take the bed off and flip it for cleaning and dent repair.

We did mine with myself, two neighbors and my 15 year-old daughter. So if your help tries to beg out, show them this! Yeah, a 15 year old girl! Seriously though, I would guess about 350 lbs.

Thanks for the info. I thought it would be around a 4 person job, but everyone I asked to help so far has told me they think I ought to get around 6 people to do it. I have lifted one side by myself while loosening it from the frame, so I didnt think I needed over 4. Thanks again for the help.

Yesterday I scrapped my original rusty short box and both front fenders. Scale weight for all 3 pieces 440 lbs. So the box weight would be just over 400 or more like 420 ish

My son and I (he's young; I'm old) lifted his off of his crew cab and put it back on several times. We moved it around the driveway endlessly, I might add. So I would say it is a two-man job with difficulty and a four man job with ease.
