Just purchased my grandfathers 72 F100

Post by cyque »

Hello ford enthusiasts. My name is TJ Gamble and I have just purchased my Grandfather's 72 F100 from my older brother.

About Me
I am freelance website developer/internet marketer located in Auburn, Alabama. I am the webmaster for several automotive related sites, and will list them here and I'll try to not shamelessly plug them on the forums in the future.

Classic Car & Truck Resources at V8rumble.com: This site is one I recently launched to help support the automotive restoration market. It still has a lot of growing to do, but is coming along quite nicely

Rebuilt Crate Engines - Ford Engines and Precision Rebuilt Engines: These are websites for a houston engine builder that does fantastic work.

The Truck
The truck is a 1972 Ford f100 LWB that my grandfather bought brand new. It was in pristine condition until 1994 when a hurricane came through this area and knocked a tree down on top of it. From this storm the cab was dented in on top and the hood has a large dent. The drivers side door has started to rust, but other than this it is still in pretty good shape.

My older brother bought the truck from my grandfather a few years ago, shortly before he passed away. He tore the truck apart, painted the frame, and completely reworked the suspension. While putting it back together, he went through a job change and did not have the money to complete the project. Wanting to see it finished, he sold the truck to my younger brother. My younger brother then put the truck back together, had the engine and transmission rebuilt, and added disc brakes to the front.

He recently married, had a baby, and no longer had room for the old truck. He needed to sell the truck to purchase more family friendly transportation. He sold the truck back to my older brother (part of the original selling arrangement was that he had first "dibs" if it came back up for sale). My older brother had the truck sitting in his yard for over a year now, rarely ever using the truck. I have been leaning on him hard to sell it to me for the last few months. Not wanting to see the truck sit and ruin, he finally agreed to sell it to me.

So here I am with a perfectly running f100 that looks like hell. I have another restoration in progress (1964 Chevy Impala, don't look down on me for owning a chevy) so the ford will be a slow project. I have way too much money in the Impala to stop it now, so I guess the ford will remain mostly as-is until the car is finished.

Anyway, this is the story in a nutshell, a large wordy nutshell.
