clutch wont hold truck back

Post by DANZIG »

My father was driving the truck
(69 with a 3 speed collumn shift and 360 c.i.) and told me he had to come home in 1st gear. I give it a shot and the danr thing wont start cuz it wants to take off.

And yes i am holding the clutch in when starting it haha

Check the linkage to make sure it is all good. Then try adjusting it.

start it in gear, then float the gears all the way home. not too difficult to do with a little practice.

or the little plastic thingy in the column is worn out and needs replaced.

Sounds like the clutch arm pivot point might have broke or something in the linkage as heep said.

And make sure to check every component of the linkage. I ended up replaceing a clutch because of a similiar prolem when the only problem was the piviot on the frame was loose and giving to much slack.
