I got this rear end from one of the local guys. It came out of a 1970 crew cab. Can anyone ID it. I know its a DANA, but which one? Is this the heavy duty suspension?
I've got more pictures of it in the project update forum, under F250 Camper Special.
thanks

Look for a '60' cast into the lower boss area.
Careful, It might be a LS rear. the rear I pulled from a '71 crew was just that. And it worked great.
Looks like a 1 ton rear suspension. With the coil-over shocks, it hauled a load at times.

I know there is a way to check for limited slip, but I don't remember. Do you lift it and then spin one wheel. Then if the other wheel spins the same way, then its limited slip..right? I haven't checked yet, but I think it is supposed to be. I also need to check the gears in it too.
Is there anything special about the one ton rear suspension? Was it part of a special package or anything like that? Or is it just heavy duty? I'm not even sure what is in my camper special right now. It might already have the one ton suspension.
thanks

Yes. That is the easiest way to check it.

Try looking for the tag attached to a bolt on the rear of the cover.
It should give you the gear ratio and weather it's a LS diff.
