Post by derek7871 »

On my '68 F100 with the 3 on the tree w/overdrive, do I pull the lever out or push it in to engage the overdrive?

whichever way makes the RPM's drop when you are going down the road.

Never had one, so I cant help more than that.
In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!

"Are you gonna make it all 220?"
"Yeah 220, 221, whatever it takes."

When my dad gave me the truck, he told me the overdrive slips out of gear and not to mess with it. Well, I left it alone for several months.....until three days ago. I engaged it and after 3 or 4 miles it slipped. It was just like if you pushed in the clutch and gave it some gas. Anyway, now I think the OD is still engaged and I can't get it to disengage. This morning, I tried to drive it to work and it was slipping again. I was trying to move the OD handle and apparently the cable broke. So now I guess I have to manually disengage the OD unit. Just when I finally had everything working good, I had to go messing with the stupid OD!! :x
