Anyone know what the Torque specs are for a 17 bolt C-6 Fluid Pan?
Also - Im doing a Trans Fluid Change and want to see if anyone has any tips -
Im also going to as a Severely Novice Question -
Should I be putting any fluid in the pan before I replace it, or after Drainage, do I re-fill ALL of the fluid by the dipstick tube?

i don't have the torque specs but. no you don't have to fill the pan or anything. although it would be smart and a good idea to put some in the torque converter before you put it on. it will then take less time to fill the tranny later on. and it will help on startup i think.

Don't know the specs, but I tighten the bolts till I see the gasket start to compress and squish outwards. If you completely drained the tranny and TQ converter, Put 2 qts of fluid in the converter before you reintall it in the tranny. Then put 4qts fluid in the tranny, start the truck, check fluid level, add fluid till you see some on the dipstick. Holding the brake, shift the tranny back and forth between drive and rev a couple of times, recheck fluid while truck is running. Repeat the shifting and checking till the tranny shows full on the dipstick.

Ok - so start with about 6 Qts. Now, You said put a few qts in before reinstalling the TQ - Will I be taking out the TQ when I am just doing a Fluid Change?

No. If you are just droping the pan, you don't have to pull the torque converter. I usually put 4 to 6 quarts in after the fluild change, start the truck, add some fluid quart or two and check, if it is showing at all on the stick, I stop and let the truck get to temp. You want the engine/trans to be operating temp to check the fluid. After the truck has reached temp, I check the stick again, maybe add a 1/2 quart if it is low, then I jump in and shift thru all the gears a couple of times. Then I check the stick and put more fluid in. Be careful, you can over fill it really easy. Then when it is all set. I test drive it. Come home, with it still running and in park, I check the fluid one more time. Then I shut it down.

Oh OK I thought you had the TC out. You can drain the TC with it still in the tranny. On the back side of the TC (towards the tranny) you should see a small plug with a square head on it. Turn the engine by hand till this plug is at the bottom. Remove the plug and drain the fluid.
