It may need a shim or two, but I couldn't tell you how to check it's alignment.

re: new starter
hows the wire going to the starter? Mine was angled wrong where it attached to the starters post and it ground itself to the starter. Also did you go with the one year or lifetime warranty one?
My experience is the lifetime is usualy the better rebuild/remaned on almost all parts. Also hows the flywheel? Is it warped at all missing teeth or are tooth ground down in spots?

re: new starter
the teeth arre good. well i went to start it up this morning and had very low battery power. so jumped it and drove to football practice where it sat for 2 hours and when i went to start it up again. i had no battery power. luckily i brought along spare battery. So i put it on and it cranked really fast but would not fire so i put my foot to the floor on the pedal and it finnaly fired up. I get home and put the optima in another vehicle and it barelly cranks it fast enough to fire it up. So i put it on the charger and it says only 25%. I just hope that the optima ain't bad because i have alredy put my usaull marking on it such as date installed and mileage installed and napa probably won't take it back with black sharpie writing on it.
3 month old optima red top
new relay
new alternator
new regulator
new starter
all connections tight and clean.
I think that my exhaust leak is hitting right on the alternator and burning it up, and it might not be charging the battery enough.
THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZZZZZZZZY!!!!!!!!!

re: new starter
I have been hearing that the Optimas have been failing. Not sure why. Alot of the 4xers have been having the problem and now are switching to excide jell cells.
As far as your starter problem. If the connections are clean then its a battery problem.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I run Interstate batteries in all my vehicles. I have been extremely pleased with them.

re: new starter
Did you check the system after you put all that stuff on. Take it to a shop and get the system load tested.

re: new starter
I just purchased a new Tilton starter for our truck. They told me #4 starter cables are not big enough for the stock OEM type starters. You can have a larger diameter set of cables made up at your local welding supply store. I had a set of 1/0 cables made for ours and the cost was just $25 A set of #2's should not be over $20

re: new starter
i made my own set of 2guage wires. I think my problem might be a short draining my battery. Because when i let it sit all day hooked up, it starts hard. but if i unhook the cables and then re-hook them when i want to start it up i have full batery power.
