My brake system set up

Post by zakt »

Called Hydratech Braking and there working on a hydroboost unit that will fit the 67' so I will be going this route on my 67'. And they can make it accept my 95' master cylinder. This will put out like 2000psi and they say the stock is 1200psi or so. As many of you know Im putting that 95' 460 CID efi motor in my 67' so the pump wont work the best so changing that over also. With all of this I should be able to stop those 40" tires with no problem.

probably about $695.. and thats not with the new steering pump...

I want to do it only once and dont look back so in my opinion worth the :$$: it also is a bolt in were as I was going to hack up the firewall to retro my 95' brake guts in. This will be worth it also with the plug and play factor...(but most of the time it really doesnt plug and play  )

I think I will have a problem not matter with those 40" tires so need something other than stock and not to many options out there.

Get the PS pump and bracket out of an Econoline of similar year and use that on your truck. The pumps on the van put out a lot more pressure and are a lot quieter, too.

I agree, you'll definitely want a Saginaw pump to power that Hydroboost setup. In fact, here's the thread at Broncofix.com that you need to read which covers that special bolt-in Saginaw pump.

I would assume you can pull the pulley off and can put the one off my 95' and use the serpantine pulley?

$700 for a hydroboost seems really pricey but safety should not take a backseat to cost.....I would like to see what they come up with. You may be able to adapt a hydroboost from a junk vehicle for a lot less money.

No, it'll be a while before I can get around to that. Messing with the 4x4 is fairly low on the list of priorities right now.
