Procedure To Adjust 3 Speed Shift Linkage??

Post by Mooosman »

Does anyone have a way to adjust the column shift 3 speed linkage on a 72 F-100? Any pictures would be helpful!

Thanks

First, put trans. in neutral and insert gauge rod into linkage.

Ok, so you disconnect the shift rods from the shift levers on the tranny.

Then, you run the adjusting sleeve up until it bottoms on the threads on the rod (which would be the shortest postion).

Then, you back off (lengthen) the sleeves on the rods 7 turns each.

Then, you re-install on the tranny shift levers.

Lastly, you remove the gauge rod and test for operation.

Am I missing anything?

Where can I find the bushings for the linkage itself, and, is there anything in the column that wears out, like more bushings?
